What Does The Bible Say About Wealth And Money?

The Bible clearly discourages love of money as it is considered as the root cause of all evil. When we become obsessed with wealth and possessions our desires increase unnecessarily.

Consequently, either we become frustrated in our attempts to accumulate more wealth and fulfill unlimited desires or we tend to deviate from the right path. The Bible, nonetheless, is not against the idea of saving money for a rainy day.

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
~ 1 Timothy 6:10

Given below are more Bible quotes about money.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
~ Matthew 6:19-21

“No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”
~ Matthew 6:24

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?”
~ Luke 16:10-12

“Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.”
~ Proverbs 13:11

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.”
~ Proverbs 13:22

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.”
~ Proverbs 21:5 (This Bible verse clearly warns against gambling.)

“There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.”
~ Proverbs 21:20

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life- is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
~ 1 John 2:15-17

“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”
~ Matthew 4:4

“But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?”
1 John 3:17
